What is polished Concrete?

Polished concrete is fast becoming the ultimate no-wax flooring material. Thanks to recent advances in concrete polishing equipment and techniques, we are able to grind concrete floors, whether new or old, to any desired gloss providing a long lasting low maintenance floor. Factoring in the superior durability and performance of concrete floors, it’s no wonder why more retail, warehouse, and office facilities are opting for polished concrete as an alternative to marble, granite, tile, linoleum, hardwoods and laminates. Can my floors be polished?

Almost any structurally sound concrete floor, new or old, can be polished. But there are some exceptions.

For new floors, coordinating with the placer enables us to achieve a better result. The flatter the concrete is installed and finished by the placer the easier it is to make a beautiful floor. The floor should be in place at least 28 days before polishing begins to ensure adequate curing.

Existing floors typically require some surface preparation prior to polishing to remove dirt, grease, coatings, or blemishes. However, concrete that is very uneven, needs extensive patching, or is extremely soft may not be a good candidate for a polished concrete floor.
